Event Details
Brian Ganz, often called “Washington’s favorite pianists,” is widely recognized as one of the leading pianists of his generation. The Virginia Chamber Orchestra and Music Director David Grandis will present “Brian Ganz Enchants with Beethoven” in Capital One Hall on Sunday, April 14th at 4pm.
Brian Ganz will be featured in Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto, one of the most popular concertos in the entire piano repertoire.
The orchestra will perform Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 1. The composer completed it at the remarkably early age of fifteen. It " brims with youthful energy and Mozartian elegance " (Victor Carr).
Vaughan WiIliams elevated British folk music. He composed the organ prelude entitled Rhosymedre based on a hymn tune by a church organist in that small Welch town. The prelude has been played at the coronation of Charles III and Camilla, and at many recent royal weddings and funerals. The orchestral arrangement by Foster, also well known, will be performed by the Virginia Chamber Orchestra.
